Initial Consultation and Assessment
No hypnosis takes place during our initial consultation. This is a very important session, giving you information that will be extremely helpful to kick start your therapy. The initial consultation session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I would hope to get an understanding of why you are seeking therapy, what you feel you need from the process and what you would like to get out of it.
I will then explain a bit about how the brain works. We will also talk through our agreement to work together, which will include what happens in sessions, payment, confidentiality and the cancellation policy.
Hypnotherapy is a joint effort rather than a magic wand. It is very important to understand that a commitment and determination to make positive change is required on your part, in order to maximise the success of any treatment program. Hypnosis and the accompanying therapy can be enormously powerful and works best as a collaborative effort. Results may vary depending on the individual. Listening to the relaxation CD/MP3 as advised in between clinical sessions is advised.
It is important that you arrive on time for your sessions. If your session needs to be curtailed due to your late arrival then the session fee remains payable in full.
As with all complementary therapies, you should seek advice from your GP if you feel you have a medical condition. If at any point during our sessions I feel that seeking medical advice would be helpful for you, I will recommend it and document this.
